DescriptionPowerpoint presentations with Shockwave Flash Applets intended to demonstrate the effect of a resultant force on the motion of an object & to introduce students to displacement time & velocity time graphs.

ObjectiveIntended to assist pupils with the interpretation of dosplacement & velocity time graphs.

Prior KnowledgeStudents will have been introduced to Newton's first law.
Students will be familiar with the use of vectors to represent the action of forces and with fluid friction.

ExpectationsIntendended for use with an IWB

MaterialsMS PowerPoint 2 Velocity time graphs.ppt - A Powerpoint presentation with two embedded Shockwave Flash applets

MS PowerPoint 2 Displacement graphs.ppt - A Powerpoint presentation with a Shockwave Flash applet intended to provide an introduction to Displacement time graphs.

MS PowerPoint 2 Motion graphs.ppt - A Powerpoint presentation with an embedded Shockwave Flash applet allowing modelling of displacement, velocity and acceleration time graphs

MS PowerPoint 2 Motion graphical treatment.ppt - A Powerpoint with embedded Shockwave Flash applet allowing demonatration of displacement and velocity time graphs and the relationship between the two.

TRE comment Teaching tip - This is a very useful set of resources.

The velocity time graphs.ppt allows you to simulate a tug-of-war (up to three 'people'/team) and the motion of an accelerating motor vehicle. The other two simulations provide equally useful concepts.
