DescriptionThis resource comprises a series of Excel spreadsheets that have been created to give students multiple choice tests. Each template tells the teacher where to put the correct answer so that the computer can mark it. All you need to do is type your questions and the possible answers in.

ObjectiveAssessment

AssessmentLook at pupil scores

Prior KnowledgeKnowledge related to the topic you have been teaching

ExpectationsA quick, fun assessment that requires little work to mark. All the teacher needs to do is change the font colour on the score box to reveal the pupil results

HintsEach template type has six variations so that students don't learn the order of the correct answers. More templates will be appearing over the coming weeks and if teachers want to send me any tests they create using the templates I will put them up on the site as well.

TRE comment Limited experience required - Adapting these quiz templates requires limited skill in Excel - all a teacher needs to do is to replace the words "correct" and "wrong" with the answer he/she requires and save the sheet in a shared area using an appropriate name

TRE comment Locking finished quizzes - You can lock the finished quiz (once you have amended the questions to suit your topic) as follows:

1) Select all the white cells (for the pupil's name and answers)
2) Click Cells on the Format menu
3) Click the Protection tab
4) Take the tick out of Locked and click OK
5) Click Protection on the Tools menu
6) Select Protect Sheet
7) (Enter a password if required) Click OK

Puipils should now only be able to enter their name and the answers. You may also wish to un-protect the final score cell so that you can readily change the shading to reveal the mark.

TRE comment Author Comment - The templates have been revised for January 2004 with additional sheets to help with marking and assessment.
You need to use the Sheet1, Sheet2 and Sheet3 tabs to move between sheets.
Sheet1 is the original quiz template.
Sheet2 is a duplicate without the colour to make printing easier. All inputs on Sheet1 will be copied over to Sheet2.
Sheet3 is an assessment summary. It will give you the student name, each of the questions, the correct choice and the pupil answer along with their final score.

These changes were made following feedback from TRE users.

If you don't want to have these additional sheets simply right-click on the relevant tab(s) and select Delete from the pop-up menu.

TRE comment Excel - Some useful resources here, not just the self marking sheets, but schemes of work for Office applications.
