Description9 x 1 hour lessons, which I use in the Summer term for year 7s - they are able to utilise basic Drama skills learnt throughout the year and have the oppurtunity to develop social and groupwork skills.

ObjectiveBy the end of the schem the pupils will present a performance of The Ramayana that they have devised with the guidance of the teacher. This could possibly be performed to year 6s in a local primary school as part of the school's outreach work.

AssessmentProcess - on-going formative assessments of each pupil's contribution to the task and ability to work as part of an ensemble.
Product - a performance of the play to an audience.
Evaluation - of their own and their peer's contribution.
Written - plenty of opportunities for writing-in-role tasks.

Prior KnowledgeThe basic requirement for Drama work in Year 7 is an ability to work in any group of the teacher's choosing. here they also have the opportunity to draw upon story-telling traditions from their own cultural heritage. Stories from the Indian sub-continent, Africa or the Far East lend themselves well to this kind of Drama work.

ExpectationsA development of Drama skills as well as those associated with communication and groupwork. Understanding and knowledge of others' cultural heritage.
